Man United goal machine Wayne Rooney again put his in the score sheet. This time his brace helped Man United to defeat West Brom. Man United win coupled with Man City lost to Swansea City, send Man United to the top of the league for the first since last October. Less will expect the City lost but Swansea proved again that they were strong at home.

After the Europe disappointment Man United surely looked for the comfortable win against Roy Hodgson side. Sir Alex Ferguson put a line up with more balance team in term of experience. Ferdinand and Scholes were again in the lineup that bring more confident look. The impressive De Gea now the automatic choice for the goal keeper. The backline were Evra-Ferdinand-Evans- Jones. Smalling who was injured and Rafael were dropped. The midfielders were Young as the left winger, Carrick and Scholes at the centre while surprisingly Welbeck was employed as the right winger. However the young England had the liberty to pop up at the front when Man United at the offense. It was reported that Nani was injured during training.

Man United dominating the game right from the start. However it was the visitor who had the better chances at the beginning of the game. Firstly Liam Ridgwell prodded wide after receiving a decent cross from the left. Then De Gea had to produce a finger tip save to deny Keith Andrews attempt from a free kick. Then the game was all Man United.

In the 35th minutes of the game Rooney scored. West Brom were trying to clear their line however the ball reached Scholes. Then the evergreen Man United midfielder send the ball to Hernandez who was unmarked on the right. The Mexican cut inside and beat a West Brom player. The he unleashed a shot towards West Brom goal. Rooney anticipation was spot on. He put a touch that diverted the ball into the empty net. It was a goal poacher goal with opportunist instinct.

Hard Break For City

Joy For United

It was all Man United and the same story after the interval. Although Evra gave a scare when his needless touch brought down West Brom striker in the 18 yards box. The referee wave to play on. Man United immediately launch a counter attack. A sweeping move that saw Hernandez shot rattled the post. He was so desperate to score but it not going to be his day. Then West Brom found they a man down after Jonas Ollson was sent off for second yellow. The referee judged him guilty for bringing down Hernandez. Then the visitor misery was compounded when Ashley Young was brought down in the penalty box. Rooney coolly converted his and Man United second.

Well it not the best from Man United but still enough to earn all three points. Well with City lost it was euphoric. I kept changing the channels to see City results. Whenever the game stops I’ll change. A little bit down when Swansea missed the penalty but what I saw Swansea was dominating the game. At then when Old Trafford had sudden roar in the 83th minutes, I quickly sensed that Swansea had scored. I changed and it was Swansea goal. I also watched the disallowed City goal. Disbelief at first but then smile was back at my face as the referee assistant ruled it out for offside.

Another talking point was the introducing of Pogba replacing Scholes. It seemed that the Frenchman still not signed any contract with Juventus like earlier reports. Sir Alex also still had hope on the 18 years old prodigy. Man United gaffer said that Pogba is still the first team player. Well we will see what going to happen next.
