Man United 1-0 Fulham

One Is Enough

Man United 1-0 Fulham
Rooney 43'

Many said that Man United was lucky to win this game. But I beg to differ. Man United was unlucky because only win with 1-0 margin. It should be more. Man United put a very offensive team to face the side from the Craven Cottage. Beside  Rooney, Sir Alex had chose Welbeck, Giggs, Valencia and Young in the starting line up. Plus two fullback who always ready for overlapping. So basically only three outfield players that in defensive mode.

Man United really wanted to win big for this game. They got offensive right from the start. Fulham surely understood well they could not withstand the onslaught had stuck a defensive game plan. It was all Man United though the visitor managed to force De Gea made two saves in the first home. Basically there was not worry at all for Man United.

Fulham put almost of their players behind the ball. They even not showed any eagerness to attack Man United goal especially in the first half. They really concentrated to defend their goal. Their stubbornness made Man United frustrated. However with one mistake Man United punished them. Fulham failed to clear Young decent ball in. A misjudged lead the ball fell to Evans who had great awareness to locate Rooney. He cushioned the ball nicely to Rooney smashed the ball home.

The second half continue in the same scenario. Man United created so many chances. But Fulham especially their keeper stood firm to deny Man United second goal. Then some tiredness led to sloppy defending. Fulham try exploits from this. In 89th minutes came the talking point. Carrick was claim to foul Danny Murphy who went down when he was clipped by Man United midfielder. But this happen regularly in many games before. Some referee awarded a penalty some did not. It was soft. In this match no penalty rewarded. It was the same case when Evra shot hit Fulham player's hand in the first half. It was clear handball.  But the referee waved to play on.

So one was enough. Man United is three point ahead of Man City at the top of the table. The ball is now at Man United but the pressure is on Man City.
