Man United to Make £40m Plus Player Offer for Tottenham Winger Gareth Bale
Sir Alex Ferguson makes welshman top Old Trafford summer target
10 February 2012

Man United will reportedly make a significant offer for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale as Sir Alex Ferguson pursues the Welshman in the hope of landing the talented youngster this summer. The Old Trafford side are willing to offer as much as £40m for the 22 year old and will also offer the North London side a possible player exchange as a makeweight in as part of the deal.

With Harry Redknapp being strongly linked with the vacant England manager’s position Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may fear that the departure of the Tottenham boss could create instability at the club that would possibly open the door to potential exits of their top performers.

Levy managed to quash Chelsea’s interest in Luka Modric last summer, insisting the Croatian international was not for sale, but it may prove all the more tricky to keep Bale from being tempted by a move to the reigning Premier League champions, not least as his boyhood hero Ryan Giggs has just signed a new contract at the club.

Tottenham have done superbly well this term, keeping a solid footing in third spot and arguably being the only realistic title contender to battle both Man City and Man United, however Sir Alex Ferguson may well feel he can lure Bale to the club this summer but the Scot will have to beat Barcelona to the punch as the Catalan side are also said to be keen on the former Southampton man.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been guaranteed funding for summer acquisitions by Man United chief executive David Gill and the Old Trafford boss will look to trim his squad’s wage bill by offering Dimitar Berbatov as part of any bid for Bale. The Bulgarian international has been used sparingly this term but has proved very effective when called upon, netting seven goals in ten Premier League appearances this term.

Man United are looking to agree a one year extension to the 30 year old’s contract so as to avoid losing the striker on a free transfer. Berbatov enjoyed two successful seasons at Tottenham prior to his contentious move up north but his former club may well need new striking options in the summer and any feelings of displeasure in relation to his deadline day move to Old Trafford back in 2008 may well prove irrelevant.

Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring in more creative options to boost his attacking line-up and has set his heart on capturing Gareth Bale above all other targets. A move for the Cardiff born winger may well lead to the possible sale of one of the club’s three other primary wide-men. Nani has had a solid season but has seen his influence tail offer in recent months, however the Portuguese international is still a player that is greatly valued.

Ashley Young started his Man United career in explosive fashion but has struggled to find form since time out injured, whereas Luis Antonio Valencia, primarily used on the right side of midfield, has been hugely impressive in recent months and is much rejuvenated following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Well it was kind of shock news. Bale is becoming a world class player. He is in own class. Not Ronaldo, Messi or Rooney type. He is out and out winger  with attacking flair. Couple with superb finishing he was devastating.

United already had many winger on the left the place favored by Bale. Nani is superb player though unpredictable. Young join in this season also had made an impact. Don't forget the legendary Giggs and industrious Ji Sung Park who could also play in both wing.

But a great  player like him is worth to sign.
