UCL Matchday 2: United vs Basel

After the disappointment against Stoke City, United now looking for moral boost against the Swiss team. Old Trafford is a fortress for United where they  recorded only one lost in 32 Champion League games. However Basel managed to hold United with 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in 2002/03 Champion League group stage.

United is without their first choice strike force partner after losing Rooney for hamstring injury and Hernandez (dead leg). Berbatov might played to partner with Owen as Sir Alex always opt for experience in Champion League. He usually prefered 4-5-1 formation. If this the case Giggs will play more central role to support the lone striker. It is hard to leave Nani and Young right now especially with their good form is increasing in every game. Defenders Evans and Smalling were reported will miss the game due to their injury. The back four would be same as the line up  against Stoke City. Da Silva twins now had another player to fight for the slot as Valencia had showed that he capable to play as the fullback.

Not sure the line  up for Basel but surely the manager knew the hard time the team will face at Old Trafford. Hoping for many goals for United.

The game schedule to kick off at 2.45 am Malaysia time Wednesday 28.09.2011
